Dr. Shafagh Dinparast Tohidi is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bactronic Systems, where he leads the development of next-generation advanced materials and intelligent manufacturing technologies for semiconductor, electronics, automotive, wearable, and sensing applications. With a Ph.D. in Advanced Polymer Engineering and more than 15 years of international research and industrial innovation experience, He specializes in the design, synthesis, characterization, and scale-up of functional polymers, conductive composites, nanomaterials, and bio-based materials. His work focuses on bridging fundamental materials science with manufacturable technologies that enable flexible electronics, smart surfaces, wearable sensors, and sustainable electronic systems. Throughout his career, he has led multidisciplinary R&D programs across Europe and the United States, collaborating with global organizations including Toyota, IKEA, Bosch, Stellantis, and leading research institutes. His expertise spans polymer chemistry, conductive nanocomposites, in-mold electronics, semiconductor materials, biosensors, advanced composites, additive manufacturing, and smart manufacturing systems. He combines deep materials expertise with advanced computational and digital technologies, including finite element modeling (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), machine learning, computer vision, and process optimization. He has successfully translated laboratory innovations into scalable manufacturing solutions, advancing technologies from early-stage research through pilot production and commercialization. At Bactronic Systems, his vision is to redefine how functional materials interact with electronic devices by enabling intelligent, adaptive, and environmentally responsible technologies for the next generation of connected products.

My Story

Dr. Shafagh Dinparast Tohidi is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bactronic Systems, where he leads the company’s vision and technological strategy focused on advanced materials and next-generation electronic systems. Holding a Ph.D. in advanced polymer engineering, Dr. Tohidi has built his career at the intersection of materials science, semiconductor integration, and intelligent manufacturing. His work centers on designing and engineering functional organic polymers and biopolymers capable of enabling new classes of flexible electronics, wearable technologies, and high-performance semiconductor interfaces.

At Bactronic Systems, Dr. Tohidi directs multidisciplinary research and development programs aimed at synthesizing and optimizing high-purity polymers for advanced electronic applications. His work involves molecular engineering of polymer systems to improve dielectric performance, charge transport, thermal stability, and environmental resilience in thin-film and flexible device architectures. By investigating structure–property–performance relationships, he connects molecular design and crystallinity with electronic functionality, enabling materials that can be integrated into next-generation electronic components, wearable devices, and semiconductor packaging technologies.

Dr. Tohidi oversees the entire innovation pipeline, from laboratory-scale synthesis and materials characterization to scalable manufacturing processes and pilot-level production. His approach combines advanced polymer chemistry, additive manufacturing, statistical process design, and computational modeling to ensure reproducibility and industrial scalability. Through this work, he develops materials and manufacturing processes that bridge fundamental research and practical device integration.

Throughout his career, Dr. Tohidi has led numerous international research initiatives across advanced manufacturing, conductive polymer composites, smart materials, and functional nanostructures. His contributions span the development of in-mold electronics for automotive systems, conductive thermoplastic composites for sensing and heating applications, biopolymer platforms for wearable biosensors, and nanostructured materials for medical devices and energy systems. These projects have involved collaborations with industrial partners, materials scientists, semiconductor engineers, and technology developers to translate complex materials research into manufacturable solutions.

Dr. Tohidi also leads the company’s intellectual property strategy and innovation roadmap, developing novel polymer chemistries, synthesis methodologies, and functional material platforms that form the technological foundation of Bactronic Systems. His expertise combines polymer science, materials engineering, computational modeling, and electronic device integration, enabling the development of high-performance materials tailored for emerging applications in flexible electronics, semiconductor technologies, and smart wearable systems.

Through Bactronic Systems, Dr. Tohidi aims to build a new generation of functional material platforms that redefine how advanced polymers interact with electronics, enabling more adaptive, lightweight, and intelligent devices for future technological ecosystems.
